Thanks to the efforts of Rueben Finch of FreeNode IRC and Ricky Clarkson of Salford Univeristy, we held the first ever Gentoo UK Meeting last Saturday (Sept 4th). We must have had about 30 people attend (not bad at all for two weeks notice and the day went without a hitch.

Now we get to start planning the next event

… that most of the comments on Slashdot are posted by ignorant peasants, just read their thread about KDE’s demonstration of NX at aKademy.

I don’t know what’s worse – the ’sensationalist’ publicity that the KDE team is churning out about FreeNX, the evangalism from those who saw the demo, or the idiots poo-pooing something that they’ve never even tried for themselves.

Still, it is good to see NX getting the publicity they deserve. Now, if only Daniel and Kurt had taken NX more seriously when I first started supporting NX on Gentoo last year
