If you’re running Gentoo Linux as your guest operating system with VMWare Workstation 5, a quick “emerge vmware-linux-tools” will speed things up nicely.

Turns out that PHP-4.3.11 did contain an important security fix after all. Thanks to Tom Knight for finding a posting about the issue. I’ve bumped PHP to 4.3.11 on x86; other arches will be following as soon as they can.

Spent the afternoon migrating my email from Kmail’s maildir-based local folders into a cyrus-imapd server. Unfortunately, Kmail crashed partway through, and took all of my Gentoo email with it. So if you’ve sent me any email in the last couple of weeks, and you still want a reply, please send it through again

Pieter, I wish you’d stop doing your sales thing for Sun on our Gentoo planet. Is it really appropriate for you to be a marketing droid for a company that attacks the very license that Gentoo’s Portage Tree is released under?
