Cycle Hire Pedal Power

At the western end of Cardiff Council’s controversial new road bridge into Bute Park, I noticed this striking sign directing people entering the park over the new bridge to where they can hire a bike to cycle around the park.

I think cycling is a great way to explore Bute Park and Pontcanna Fields, and you’ve always got the choice to cycle down the Taff Trail to Cardiff Bay and the barrage.

Roller Door

Download the full-size picture to use as your desktop wallpaper.

My choice of wallpaper today is this shot of a garage door in a very fashionable suburb of a very fashionable city. It is one of many such doors, and walking around I was struck by the idea of how absurd it all seemed to me. We value things over fellow people so much that we build little houses for our things (i.e. garages for cars) whilst houses for people stand empty, or are crammed into tiny spaces (or worse, one on top of the other) so that families have little or no gardens, and no-one has room to simply breathe and relax.

Is it me, or do we sometimes get our priorities badly wrong on this tiny little island of ours?

I’ll be back tomorrow with another desktop wallpaper choice to share with you.
