Refuge Against The Sky

My theme this week is the tiny island of Lindisfarne, famous for being a place of holy retreat and for the mead and other drinks that it produces. Lindisfarne is connected to the mainland by a causeway that is only accessible when the tide goes out, and I made the area of the island around the causeway my focus for the day.

Another shot of one of the refuges that are strung out along the marked route across the bay to Lindisfarne, this time clearly showing Holy Island itself in the distance. And when you’re half-way across, starting to get tired from trudging through all the mud, the island really does look that far away!

A number stuck to a lamp post in Gwaelod-y-Garth. Taken back in August, during an evening out to get to grips with my new 80-200mm f/2.8 lens.
