Newsprint is a Wordpress theme from Stuart Herbert. It is designed to work well for several types of blogs:
- Blogs that post long articles (e.g. Invest In Loss); these blogs need clear typefaces and layouts for maximum readability
- Blogs that post photographs or photo-journalisim (e.g. Stuart’s Photography blog), which need wider content columns that have space for photo thumbnails from sites like Flickr
- Blogs that need a solid landing page (e.g. Stuart’s PHP blog), where most visitors are expected to sign up via RSS feeds rather than read future posts on the blog website itself
Newsprint also features support for color themes, and for multiple blogs, so that (like Stuart does) you can run multiple Wordpress blogs, but share a consistent look and feel across them all through a shared settings file.
Newsprint is designed to look its best on Safari and Firefox 2+, and it looks almost as good under IE7. It was designed for Wordpress 2.3.3, and does work under Wordpress 2.5 (although it doesn’t support Wordpress 2.5’s new features yet). It is a work in progress, and will be submitted to the Wordpress themes directory when it reaches version 1.0.
